SONG-COOKING: Homemade Nian Gao (自制年糕) – Magic Quick Cook Pressure Cooker (松厨魔法气压锅)

Chinese New Year is round the corner. Using SONG-CHO / Wonderchef Magic Quick Cook Pressure Cooker to make Nian Gao is simple and quick! 🤗

Serves 4 


  • Glutinous Rice Flour 500g
  • White Sugar 400g
  • Water 700ml
  • Banana leaf (washed & trimmed)


Steps (nian gao mixture):

  1. In a sauce pan, add sugar and water and cook till it caramelized, then turn off the heat.
  2. Scoop the caramelized liquid and add into the glutinous rice flour (in a separate container), mix well and continue to do so till all caramelized liquid has been used up.
  3. When it’s done, sieve the mixture to ensure smooth consistency.
  4. Place banana leaf into a glass container and pour the sieved mixture into the container.

Steps (steaming nian gao):

  1. Place a trivet inside the Magic Quick Cook and pour some water inside and lower the nian gao into the Magic Quick Cook. You can stack up one or 2 more using more trivet.
  2. Close the lid in clockwise direction (align the arrow on the lid and handle), press the lid gently down (ensure it is closed properly); push the side button down (to lock it) and straighten the balancing weight. Turn high heat.
  3. The side pressure indicator will rise when pressure starts to develop; when the balancing weight starts swaying, turn to small (lowest) heat. At this point (when the heat is turned down), cook for 10 minutes. (Normal: the balancing weight will sway and release steam throughout the cooking process)
  4. After 10 minutes, turn off the heat.
  5. Open the lid ONLY when the side pressure indicator drops (IMPT!). There you have it, home-made nian gao! 👏

农历新年就快到了。何不利用神速松厨魔法气压锅制作年糕? 简单又快捷!👌


  • 糯米粉500克
  • 白糖400 克
  • 清水700 毫升
  • 芭蕉叶 (洗净修剪)


做法 (年糕面糊):

  1. 把白糖和水倒入汤锅内煮至溶化并出现焦糖状,熄火。
  2. 舀一勺糖水加入糯米粉中(放置在另一碗中),搅拌均匀,继续直到糖水用完。
  3. 把面糊过滤。
  4. 将芭蕉叶放入玻璃容器内,把面糊倒入。

做法 (蒸年糕):

  1. 把脚架放入魔法气压锅内,加入水,然后把容器放入锅内。你可利用多几个脚架叠上一或兩個容器。
  2. 顺时钟盖上锅盖(锅盖和手柄的箭头要对准),轻轻压下 (确保盖好); 把开关钮往下推 (锁住),将配重头固定位置 (弄直), 开大火。
  3. 指示阀会随着锅内聚积的气压而上升; 当配重头开始摇摆排气时, 关最小火, 此时开始煮10分钟。(正常: 在烹煮过程中,气压锅会释放水蒸气,配重头也会不时地旋转并释放水蒸气)
  4. 10分钟后熄火。
  5. 等到指示阀下降后才开盖 (重要!) 。自制年糕完成! 😊
